Whitney huston was born on August 9,1963 in Newark NJ.Whitney was destined to become a singer.Her mother,Cissy Huston,cousin Dionne Warwick and grandmother Aretha Franklin where all legendary soul and gospel singers.Whitney's mother was a choir minister at New Hope Baptis Church,thats when Whitney got started singing.Then she started singing to audiences,and she later told Diane Sawyer that the church had a hudge effect on her.At the age of 15 years old Whitney was performing with her mother and was trying to get a record deal of her own.Around the time she was discoverd by a photographer,she was also awed for her natural beauty.After that she became a teenage model,she was one of the first african american females to appear on seventeen magazine.When she was 19 she was discovered in a nightclub by Clive Davis of Arista Records,he signed her immediately.In 1983,Huston was on the Merv Griffin show to sing "Home" from the musical "The Wizard".Whitney made her first album at the age of 22 it scored three number one singles.In 1987 Whitney made four more number one singles and that gave her a grammy award.With her marriage in 1992,Whitney's career got off track.She made a comeback with,"I look at you".
